A first therapy session is usually a conversation about what brought you in, what you want to change, and what kind of support feels useful. You do not need to have everything figured out before you arrive.
Your therapist may ask about your history, current stressors, relationships, health, and goals. You can also ask questions about approach, confidentiality, and what future sessions may look like.
The first session is a beginning. It is a place to build clarity and decide the next step.
